Scientists in Residence- the start of our SOIL LESS gardens!Mrs. Vegos and Mrs. Basiliere from G Squared Gardens visited us to teach students about the first steps of our soil less gardens- our soil making worms! Students first learned about the anatomy and jobs of a worm! There was so much to learn! We then got to get our hands on some wiggly creatures and have put them to work in our "worm bins" where they will be making us the soil from our banana peels, apple cores, and egg shells. We cannot wait to get started!

Autumn Adventure DayWe started our day with Miss Dilley's class! We went on a color scavengar hunt and collected the many colors that Heron Pond nature trails have to offer in the fall. We then took our "materials" and created art in nature. In the afternoon students showed off their costumes in the parade.

Saving SammyPoor Sam is a worm that found himself in a rather unfortunate situation. His boat capsized and his life jacket was trapped underneath the boat! Students worked cooperatively to rescue Sammy by putting his life jacket on (life saver gummy) so that he could safely get back to shore.
Here's the catch: Students couldn't touch Sam with their hands! They could only use the two paperclips supplied! |
